The Mission consists of Mr Masood Ahmad (who is responsible for the Project on behalf of the World Bank) and Mr Mahwash Wasiq.

During the meetings held between the Mission and the staff of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management the progress of works in the modernization of the State Hydrological and Meteorological Service, that is the Project widely known as Monitoring, Forecasting and Warning System, has been reviewed.

The first meeting was held on 24 January and aimed at getting the representatives of the World Bank familiar with the progress of implementation of all 23 tasks which were, are or will be implemented and controlled by the Institute within the frame of this "Project...".

On 26 January a site visit to Legionowo was arranged, where our guests could visit already upgraded meteorological radar and could learn about the methodology of making vertical atmosphere soundings.

From 31 January to 1 February the Mission will visit hydrological and meteorological station in Tarnow, aviation meteorological station in Rzeszów - Jasionka, building site of meteorological station in Jasionka as well as regional hydrological and meteorological station in Krosno. They will see also the prototype of our automatic network "VISTEL' which has operated from 90s in the Upper Vistula basin.

Renovated and modernised meteorological radar in Legionowo near Warsaw.

On photos of radar the range and intensity of precipitation can be seen within a radius of 250 kilometres from the radar as well as many other information necessary for synopticians' work. A computer controlling the work of METEOR 1500 clistrone meteorological radar is shown on the photo.

A short lecture on the principles of radars' operation and, moreover, on the Polish network of meteorological radars consisting of eight elements.

Control equipment under radar copula.

To see antenna one should be fit.

Great! We have succeeded - level of meters was reached.

A radar antenna must be absolutely touched.

Everybody should learn that broadly spread information on its work threatening the health of people working and living near radar is entirely false

30 -meter stairs should still be reached.

Successful way down a radar tower.

These and other radars work independently from power supply breaks.
