Equipment and software

Hardware (detection stations and CPS) & software of system - specialized. Both make up autonomous system which can detect and locate all types of lightning discharge.

The GIS used by PDM (Processing and Display Module - this component displays thunderstorms data) is MapX.

Operation and Maintenance

  • Operation and Maintenance made by administrator of system.
  • In the middle and after guarantee period - maintenance by external company.
  • Spare parts delivered within the confines of contract.
Inter-relation with other Tasks

Lack inter-relation for the sake of system's autonomy and fact that in each Forecast Office is installed user's terminal.

Moreover system sends data to ftp://wasok.imgw.pl. Format of this data is agreed-upon with another users (gif images and ASCII files) and available for another applications.


Conclusions & Questions

1. System fully integrated with telecomuncations system of IMGW.
2. Thunderstorms data available through SOK system.
