Instructions for authors
The journal Air & Water publishes original papers on research in the fields of meteorology, climatology, air quality, hydrology, water quality and water management as well as oceanography with the emphasis both on fundamental and applied aspects. The manuscripts should be written in good, scientific English. Every effort will be made to expedite publication. All manuscripts received will be reviewed by the editors and at least two independent experts. If the revisions are positive, the Editor-in-Chief makes a final decision about submission, and the manuscript is sent to author(s) for final improvement and acceptance. After that, the manuscript is sent to final language proofreading, and only printer's errors can be corrected and references updated after this stage by author. Air & Water is an international quarterly open to all contributors. Please note: the full texts of all articles published in Air & Water will be accessible on the Internet on the Air & Water home page. Submission of an article for publication in Air & Water will therefore be understood as consent on the part of the author(s) for its publication both in Air & Water and on the Internet as indicated above. | ||||||||
CESSION OF COPYRIGHT
Authors are reminded that all papers (scripts, figures, tables, photographs and other illustrative material) published in Air & Water, both in print and on-line shall upon publication become the only property of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, Warszawa, Poland. Therefore each author is requested to sign a statement transferring full and exclusive rights to their article to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, Warszawa, Poland.
MANUSCRIPTS should be printed double-spaced (including references, tables, and figure legends) font: 11 point type, Times Roman typeface on one side only of A4 paper with a margin of 2,5 cm on each side, in the following order:
Three (3) hard copies of manuscript and the cover letter to the acting Editor-in-Chief should be sent to Air & Water Editorial Office, Instytut Meteorologii i Gospodarki Wodnej, Podleśna 61, PL-01-673 Warszawa, Poland. Papers can additionally be submitted in electronic form (via email: air.water@imgw.pl), provided they are in MS WORD 2003 or MS WORD 97 format. The revised version must also be supplied in electronic form on a CD-ROM or via email (the MS Word file format is preferred). Author(s) should take into account that printed and electronic versions of submitted manuscript must be identical and that the publisher can not take any responsibility for loss or damage of submitted materials, so the author(s) should keep a backup copy of the manuscript. | ||||||||
| COMMUNICATIONS are restricted to papers describing brief but complete studies. They should not exceed five (5) printed pages in length (including figures and tables), should always begin with an abstract and should be written without subdivision into introduction, material and methods, results, discussion or acknowledgments. TABLES should be typed on separate sheets, numbered with Arabic numerals, with a brief title above each table. FIGURES should be printed on separate sheets, numbered with Arabic numerals, with a brief title above each figure. Figures and other illustrative material must be suitable for high-quality reproduction and fitted to A4 paper sheet. After revision all figures should be included on a CD-ROM in one of the following vector formats; WMF, EPS or CDR. In specific situations graphics as a bitmap in PNG format will be accepted. All photographs and any other scanned materials have to written in TIF or JPG format. The scanning of previously scanned materials is not accepted. SI UNITS should be used, if necessary following commonly used units can be used: for time - minute (min), hour (h); for volume - cubic decimeter (dm3); for mass - ton (kg); for angle measures - degree (o), minute ('), second (''). The negative power should be indicated where necessary, e.g. [dm3 s-1]. Use a space between the numeral and the unit of measure, except with degree and percent (5?C, 5%). MATHEMATICAL SYMBOLS, Greek letters and parentheses, in order {[()]}, should be printed in italics. The variables in numbers and function names should be printed as a normal text. The equations should be numbered with Arabic numerals consecutively throughout the text: these numbers should be placed in parentheses by the right hand margin. REFERENCES should be listed on a separate sheet in alphabetical order of authors' names. In the text they should be ordered by year and referred to by name and year, the year being placed in parentheses, e.g. Jones (1985) or (Jones 1985, Mueller 1990); when a work by more than two authors is referred to, the name of the first author should be followed by "et al." At the end of the text the names and initials of all authors should be given; For references which are not in English, the original language of the article should be given in brackets at the end, e.g. (in Polish), (in German) or (in Polish with English summary), etc.
