| 1971 | Electronic Calculation Technique Centre opened. |
| 1973 | The State Hydrological and Meteorological Institute was combined with the Institute of Water Management into the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management. Water Research and Measurement Centre was launched. |
| 1986 | Service for Technical Dam Control was created. |
| 1987 | Starting of personal computers implementation. |
| 1988 | State water quality monitoring began. |
| 1989 | Introduction of data and information exchange system with the speed of 9600 bits/s. |
| 1991 | Automation of aerological measurement systems was implemented. |
| 1992 | Purchase of IMB AS 400 computer, databases modernisation, installation of first automated meteorological stations. |
| 1993 | Start of operation of the specialised X.25 METPAK communication network. Purchase of first weather Doppler radar. |
| 1994 | Implementation of homogenous within the IMGW structure Operational Hydrology System (SHO) Baltic Sea Atlas was published. |
| 1995 | Elaboration and implementation of HYDRO-MET SERWIS TCP/IP network putting into operation. |
| 1996 | Installation of new receiving station of digital satellite data in Kraków (Cracow). Implementation of Integrated Marine Operational Hydrology System. |
| 1997 | Active participation of IMGW units in the activities of Central Emergency Staff as well as in provincial and local flood committees. Elaboration of monitoring and hydrological-meteorological forecasting project (Monitoring, Forecasting and Warning System). Loan agreement was signed between the Government of Poland and the World Bank for implementation of Emergency Flood Recovery Project including modernisation of hydrological and meteorological services. |
| 1998 | Mesoscale ALADIN model was implemented and put into operation in Kraków (Cracow) branch of IMGW. Www server with IMGW web page started. Purchase of new IBM AS 400 server for Central Historical Data Base. |
| 1999 | Installation of 42 automated MAWS meteorological stations. |
| 2000 | IMGW joined the Regional TCP/IP Network for Meteorological Data Communication (RMDCN) (Regional Meteorological Data Centre Network). First UV index forecast issued (published). Start of operation of first VSAT satellite links for radar data transmission. IMGW joined consortium of supercomputer centers. IMGW signed contracts for implementation of Monitoring, Forecasting and Warning System components. |
